Bandung, 25 Juli 2022,– Komandan Lanal Bandung Kolonel Laut (KH/W) Dr. Renny Setiowati., S.T., M.Sc., M.Tr.Hanla., bersama unsur Forkopimda Kab. Sukabimi melakukan aksi pelepasliaran anak penyu (tukik) di Pantai Ujung Genteng, Kec. Ciwaru Kab. Sukabumi, Senin (26/07).
Sebanyak lebih kurang 50 ekor tukik jenis penyu hijau, sebagai upaya menjaga kelestarian habitat penyu hijau di perairan Sukabumi, tak hanya dilakukan oleh instansi terkait maupun pegiat lingkungan semata. Aparat keamanan pun turut andil dalam kegiatan tersebut, seperti halnya yang dilakukan para tentara dari Pangkalan TNI Angkatan Laut (Lanal) Bandung.
Dalam rangka pelaksanaan program potensi maritim, Lanal Bandung melepasliarkan puluhan anak penyu atau tukik di Pantai Ujung Genteng, Kec. Ciwaru Kab. Sukabumi. TNI AL di luar tupoksinya di bidang pertahanan turut membantu dalam hal lain, salah satunya adalah program ini yaitu pelepasan tukik sebagai upaya melestarikan penyu khususnya yang ada di pesisir Pantai Sukabumi.
Komandan Lanal Bandung Kolonel Laut (KH/W) Dr. Renny Setiowati., S.T., M.Sc., M.Tr.Hanla., mengatakan dalam kegiatan ini pihaknya bersama Forum Komunikasi Pimpinan Daerah (Muspida) Kab. Sukabumi dan Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kab. Sukabumi serta sejumlah unsur yang terlibat langsung dalam upaya konservasi penyu di Sukabumi melepasliarkan tukik jenis Penyu hijau. Aksi ini sebagai upaya melestarikan populasi penyu agar tidak punah.
Selain itu, kehadiran penyu telah berperan sebagai penyeimbang ekosistem laut. Sebab satwa yang dilindungi ini membantu tumbuh kembang mahluk laut lainnya dengan memberikan nutrisi secara tidak langsung. Ketika berenang penyu mengeluarkan zat-zat yang menjadi santapan bagi para plankton, dan seperti yang diketahui plankton merupakan penyumbang oksigen terbesar di Bumi. Oleh karena itu kehadiran penyu sangat dibutuhkan sehingga upaya pelestarian harus terus dilakukan.
Di samping penyeimbang ekosistem, kehadiran penyu khususnya di Pantai Sukabumi juga menjadi potensi wisata yang ke depan perlu lebih dikembangkan dengan melihat kawasan tersebut selain keindahan pantainya, juga menyimpan puluhan sarang penyu yang mana itu dapat dijadikan sebagai destinasi wisata edukasi.
